Food Cupboard Growth

NAWC’s Food Cupboard operates out of the Newark Methodist Church on Main street in Newark providing a shopping experience for food insecure clients.  Recently NAWC applied and received approval from the Delaware Food Bank to be recognized as a USDA non-profit approved operation for provisioning food insecure clients. This approval allows our Food Cupboard to get additional food types from the Delaware Food Bank that increase the nutritional level of our food provisioning to include more and a wider variety of vegetables, fruits, and proteins (e.g. fish).

The Food Cupboard has served over 700 people in the last 4 months. There is a constant need for volunteers to keep the cupboard staffed. It is open for one hour Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons.
